One More Follower to Hit 500 Followers: A Timeless Lesson for Newbie Writers
From 0 followers to 499…

I almost gave up on writing.
During the lockdown of 2020, I published my first article.
For years, my writing never saw the light of the internet. I forbade myself from making public the lessons life was teaching me. It was never to be heard that I laid bare my thoughts on the internet. I was going to die with my multiple journals clutched to my chest.
I had seen people get dragged on the internet for airing their personal opinion. Cruel keypad warriors would fire words of mass destruction at sincere, well-meaning folks, which forced some to deactivate, never to be seen or heard about on the internet ever again.
I couldn’t deal with all that, or so I thought.
But in 2020, with the lockdown, so many challenges started. And I took on one challenge myself.
I faced my fear.
I stumbled on Medium after a simple Google search, signed up, wrote my first article, and I hit that publish button. I finally did it.
From point 0
For a long time, it was just me.
It was quiet for a while until the follower count started changing — 1, 2, 5, 15, 20, and now… 499.
That is not a milestone achievement per se. But it is real progress, because the success that I hope for will never happen if these baby progress doesn’t happen.
My journey so far reminds me of my favorite Jim Rohn quote.
You cannot change your destination overnight, but you can change your direction overnight. — Jim Rohn.

Let my words encourage you.
Growth, most times, is a slow process. Do not give up. Find a way to enjoy the process now, and celebrate seemingly small wins.
Don’t be so fixated on possibilities that you miss what God is teaching you at this moment.
When you lose the present, you lose your stake in tomorrow.
Trust the process, enjoy the journey, and become my 500th follower. 😉😜
