New Writer, Make Your Writing Scannable (Here is How)
get more reads and views…
Most readers on the internet skim.
They rapidly glance through written content to see if something sticks. When nothing grabs their attention, they are gone.
To get readers to read your articles make it scannable.
At quick glance, your readers should be able to get a feel of your article.
Section your thoughts and use bullets and sub-headlines. That way, readers can tell what areas you have touched on in your article.
Advantage of scannable content.
Scannable writing quickens the readers subconscious decision-making process to either read or skip the article.
Consequently, your writing must contain attention grabbing elements like power sub-headlines, attention grabbing questions, catchy graphics, etc.
Breaking your article into digestible chunks gets and keeps the attention of your reader (skimmer).
You can also add images that advance your message, capture attention, and appeal to your readers.
Never forget that people have limited time and attention spans. You have got to be brief in your communication. Use short words, short sentences, short paragraphs.
Use paragraph breaks as appropriate as they refresh the eye. Write short paragraphs of between two and five sentences and split a long paragraph into leading and continuing paragraphs.
Although a single paragraph shouldn’t contain more than one topic, some topics deserve more than one paragraph.
