Here Are 4 Lessons I Wish I Learned on The First Day I Started Writing Online
You don’t have to make the same mistakes…
If I started writing for the first-time online today, I would be 2x more successful than I am right now in a shorter time because of these four lessons I have learned the hard way:
1. Writing every day is the magic recipe
This is arguably the best advice you can get on writing.
It follows that quality is achieved quantitatively. By doing the same thing, in this case, writing as many times as possible, you begin to weave the muscles for that habit, until you are able to produce qualitative results with minimal effort.
If I had known that writing every day was so powerful, I would have started many years ago.
2. Ignore your word count
Focus on communicating your message in just as many words as you need.
The goal should be to pass your message to your reader in a way that benefits them.
If it takes a short form to do so, a short form is what you need, if it takes a long-form, go for it! You just want to ensure that daily you do the needful.
3. Follow data most time, your heart sometimes
Always pay attention to what your data is saying.
Data, like views and reads, are an important feedback mechanism. They allow you to discover what topic or niche your readers are interested in reading from you. Numbers don’t lie. As much as you might have areas of personal interest, it is important that you follow data more than you follow your heart.
4. Your reader is the hero in your story
Your reader, not you, is the hero in your story. As you write, ensure that you respect their time and seek to meet their specific needs.
We learn daily. But there are some things we wish we knew earlier.
If I had known these four lessons earlier, I would have saved myself a lot of stress.
